All-MIAC point guard Abe Woldeslassie (Sr., Richfield, Minn.) led Macalester to a split of its two games last week, shooting 55% from the field while averaging 21 points and five assists in a victory over St. Mary’s and a defeat to Concordia. Woldeslassie put Macalester up for good with a layup midway through the second half and finished with 16 points on a 7-for-12 shooting night as the Scots toppled St. Mary’s 68-65 in Winona. He then put up 26 points and dished out a season-high eight assists in a narrow 87-83 loss to the Cobbers. Woldeslassie led a second half comeback by scoring 18 points and handing out five assists in the period. Woldeslassie currently ranks fourth in the MIAC in scoring.
