The Macalester College athletics department celebrated the 25th annual Mac Hac fundraiser as 153 people in 38 teams came out to support student-athletes Monday, June 2, at the Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. The 18-hole scramble and silent auction serves as a fundraiser to benefit all Macalester athletic student-athletes – a tradition that began in 1990 at the hands of former M Club Hall of Fame coach John Leaney.
The day of golf was capped off with an annual banquet that celebrated the success of Macalester athletics in 2013-14 as well as the accomplishments of Leaney who retired from the College this spring. Leaney spent 25 successful years coaching both with the men's and women's soccer programs and served for the last five years as the department's recruiting coordinator. Leaney's coaching career is highlighted by a 1998 NCAA Division III women's soccer championship and a runner-up appearance the following year.
