Leonard Center at Dusk
Leonard Center athletic & wellness complex
Leonard Center web site
The $45 million, 175,000-square foot Leonard Center was completed in August, 2008, and provides Macalester students with one of the best workout, practice and competition venues among the nation's small liberal arts colleges.   Its natatorium, 200-meter track, and gymnasium qualify Macalester to host regional and national competitions. A fitness center, multipurpose rooms, health services offices, comfortable gathering areas, and a small juice bar make it the place for students to work out, play and relax.

Mac Stadium
Macalester Stadium/Dayton Track

Home of the Macalester football, soccer, and track & field teams, Macalester Stadium was built in 1964 and seats 4,000 spectators. The nine-lane wide-turn Dayton Track has attracted the NCAA Division III championships in 1997 and 2001 and the FieldTurf playing surface gives the fall sports teams great field conditions throughout the fall and spring seasons. The seating capacity and FieldTurf surface, along with the highly-rated track & field venue, allows Macalester to host several large high school events each year.

softball and baseball fields
Nicholson Baseball Field & Macalester Softball Complex

Constructed while the Leonard Center was being built, Macalester's new baseball and softball fields are located adjacent to each other on the southeast corner of the campus, just west of the stadium.  The cozy dimensions and high outfield dimensions of the Nicholson Baseball Field will make for exciting games.  An indoor press box overlooks both diamonds and the dugouts are spacious and comfortable.

Mac Tennis Courts

Macalester has six newly resurfaced courts sitting between the Olin/Rice Hall of Science and the new baseball field.  Youth groups and summer camps use the Macalester courts in summer months, while Scot teams use it for practice and matches in the spring and fall.
