Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./Helena) was named to the MIAC All-Conference team, as the MIAC announced its year-end awards for women's basketball today. Additionally, senior center
Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) was included on the MIAC All-Sportsmanship team.
This is the second All-MIAC honor for Fruh, who received all-conference honorable mention in each of her first two seasons and All-MIAC her junior year. This year she led the Scots in scoring and rebounding for the third year in a row, averaging 14.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Fruh also led the Scot in blocks this season with 47 on the year.
Fruh also had a strong presence in the MIAC as she ranked seventh in scoring, third in blocks, fifth in rebounding, and seventh in field goal percentage (.482). In an 82-74 loss to Martin Luther on Nov. 15, she tallied season high of 27 points Fruh also made 26 points and 8 rebounds in a close 60-58 win against Concordia Moorhead.
This season has brought Fruh's total career points to 1,282 making her the fourth leading scorer in Macalester women's basketball history. Fruh also finished her career at fifth in career rebounds with 694.
Gergorich was the go to for the Scots behind the arc, leading Macalester this year in 3-pointers. Gregorich was also third in scoring this year with 9.0 points per game. She maintained a strong leadership role throughout out the season. Gregorich played minutes in every game until her injury senior year which she returned from to finish out the year with minutes in 18 games.
Hannah Spailding of St.Thomas was named Player of the Year, while Saint Benedict's Mike Durbin received the MIAC Coach of the Year award. Jasmin Bretoi of Bethel was chosen the Sixth Man of the Year.
