WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team beat the College of St. Scholastica, 9-0 in a non-conference dual Saturday afternoon. The Scots are now 1-0 on the season, while the Saints 0-2.

Macalester swept the Saints in singles with Macalester's No. 1 singles Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) who defeated Serhii Tykhonenko in a two set tie break, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).  No.2 Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) beat Elliot Schneider 6-4, 6-1.

The Scots were also won out in doubles with  two out of three doubles matches with Josh Doyle (Cologne, Germany/Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium) and Sam Hochberger  (Maple Grove, Minn./ Maple Grove)winning 8-2. Seniors Aidan Tirpack (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) and Ben White (Parkersburg, W Va./Parkersburg South) won 8-6.

Macalester returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 17, facing Saint Mary's University in Winona, Minn.
