ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team polished off the regular season Saturday at Hamline University's Meet of the UnSaintly. In their last competition before the MIAC Championships the Scots had two individual event winners and several personal best performances.
Junior
Sean Hayes (Buckley, Wash./White River) was an event winner in the javelin with a mark of 53.58 meters (175-09) and sophomore
Andrew Smith (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine) won the high jump clearing 1.82 meters (5-11.50).
The 4x100-meter relay placed fourth overall clocking at 43.21 seconds. The performance by senior
Aiden Hennan (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall), senior
Tre Nowaczynski (Hales Corners, Wis./West Allis Central), Smith and junior
Jack Schultenover (Glenwood, Minn./Minnewaska Secondary) was one of the fastest in recent school history.
Smith was also third in the long jump with a mark of 6.51 meters (21-04.25). In the same event, Nowaczynski was ninth clearing 6.10 meters (20-00.25). Nowaczynski also clocked a personal best 23.05 in the 200 meter dash to place seventh.
Schultenover placed third in the 100 meter dash clocking 11.42. Junior
Brian Eisner (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles finishing in 57.59 seconds. Sophomore
Michael Gutierrez (Stillwater, MN / St. Croix Prep) was 10th in the 400. His 51.35 was a season best mark.
In the 1500 meter run, senior
Lachlan Hinwood (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) placed third in a personal best time of 3:58.97, while first year
Henry Harper (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park) was sixth in 4:04.15. Junior
Nolan Ebner (Chevy Chase, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) placed second in the 800 in 1:52.51, with senior
Tayeb Zaidi (San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding) finishing in 1:55.59 for seventh.
Senior
Spencer Nelson (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) placed seventh in the 5000 meter run with teammate junior
Alex Gordon (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) crossing in eighth. They ran 16:24.27 and 16:26.36, respectively.

The conference championships will open Friday May 12 at Hamline with the second session following Saturday afternoon. Each event takes a specified number of participants based upon entrants submitted in the coming days.
