COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team continued its outdoor campaign Saturday at the College of Saint Benedict-St. John's Invitational. With only about half of the team competing, the Macalester women placed sixth of 13 teams with 51.5 points.
Senior
Brooke Hunter (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) ran a season best 15.57 seconds to win the 100 meter hurdles. In the 400 meter hurdles, junior
Hannah Sonsalla (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) placed second in a time of 65.57.
In the 100 meter dash, senior
Kara Komoto (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) was third crossing the line in 12.97, and senior
Anik Regan (Tucson, Ariz./University) was 11th overall in a time of 13.48. Additionally, Regan was fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.95 meters (9-8).
Komoto was also second in the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.57. First years
Lily Schlieman (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) and
Maya Michon (Walnut Creek, Calif./Acalanes) placed 12th and 13th, respectively in the same event, running 28.10 and 28.20.
First year
Victoria Casarrubias (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) ran 4:53.8 to take home second in the 1500. It was her first time ever running the event. Junior
Gabby Ivy (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs) placed 7th in the 400 with a time of 64.33.
In the javelin, junior
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau) threw 36.16 meters (118-8) to place second. First year
Anna Lewis-Workman (Suginami-ku, Japan/American School in Japan) was seventh in the high jump clearing 1.40 meters (4-7).
The Scots compete next at the Hamline Women's Meet April 12.
