NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Competing today at the 70th annual Carleton Relays, the Macalester College men's track and field team put up a host of impressive performances in the sunshine.
Junior
Jack Schultenover (Glenwood, Minn./Minnewaska Secondary) was the runaway winner of both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. His respective clockings were 11.25 seconds and 22.36 seconds. Schultenover also anchored home the Scots' third place 4 x 100 relay in 43.58 seconds. Leading off the relay were junior
Brian Eisner (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal), senior
Tre Nowaczynski (Hales Corners, Wis./West Allis Central) and senior
Aidan Hennen (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall).
Eisner came back to place third in the 400 hurdles in a time of 56.79. The mark breaks Eisner into Macalester's honor roll at No. 7 in the event. Nowaczynski also picked up points in the long jump with a fourth place finish at 6.23 meters (20-05.25).
Junior
Sean Hayes (Buckley, Wash./White River) was the event winner of the javelin with a performance of 52.20 meters (174-06). In the hammer throw, junior
David McNichols (New London, Wis./Shiocton) finished fifth with a toss of 49.19 meters (161-05). The mark was a personal best and he is closing in on the school record in the event. Sophomore
Greg Lopez (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young) also launched a PR mark at 34.97 meters (114-09).
In the 5000, senior
Lachlan Hinwood (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) and sophomore
Chris Boranian (Oakland, Calif./Head Royce) finished fourth and fifth, respectively running 15:30.01 and 15:35.44. Senior
Spencer Nelson (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) made his debut in the 10k finishing seventh in 34:11.73.
Sophomore
Michael Gutierrez (Stillwater, Minn./St. Croix Prep) and first year
Eddy Reyes Herrera (Sonoma, Calif./Sonoma Valley) crossed fifth and sixth in the 400. They respectively ran personal bests in 51.97 and 51.99. Senior
Tayeb Zaidi (San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding) also laid down a personal best in the 800 running 1:57.61 to place sixth overall. The PR party continued with first year
Henry Harper (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park) placing eighth in the 1500. His time of 4:03.16 ranks him ninth on the Scots' honor roll.
