Men’s Track and Field: Ebner torches 800 as Scots compete at Tomcat Twilight

The Macalester Men were up the road at Hamline University for the Tomcat Twilight Thursday evening. The meet featured athletes competing across all NCAA divisions and many teams representing the MIAC. 

Junior Nolan Ebner (Chevy Chase, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) was blazing fast in the 800, running a personal best 1:52.46. His second place finish beat out top Division I and MIAC talent, and currently ranks eighth in the nation.

In the 200 meter dash, junior Jack Schultenover (Glenwood, Minn. / Minnewaska Secondary) was fourth running 23.01. Junior Brian Eisner (Portland, Ore. / Oregon Episcopal) crossed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 58.56. Senior Aidan Hennen (St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) ran 11.51 to place 18th overall in the 100 meter dash.

Junior Sean Hayes (Buckley, Wash. / White River) led all Division III competitors in the javelin with a third place finish overall and a mark of 49.90 meters (163-08). In the hammer throw junior David McNichols (New London, Wis. / Shiocton) notched 46.93 (154-00) to place 14th. 

A macalester trio of senior Lachlan Hinwood (Colfax, Wis. / Colfax), first year Henry Harper (Oak Park, Ill. / Oak Park) and sophomore Chris Boranian (Oakland, CA / Head Royce) dominated the second heat of the 1500 to take 10, 11th and 12th overall. Hinwood crossed in 4:03.95, followed by Harper in 4:05.60 and Boranian at 4:05.81.

In the 5000 meter run junior Mac Doherty (Madison, WI / Madison East) reeled off a 40 second personal best performance to place 10th overall in 15:19.29. Senior Spencer Nelson (Liberty, Mo. / Liberty) took 15th in the same event. He ran 15:59.12 to break 16 minutes for the first time in his Macalester career. 

In the pole vault sophomore George Howe (St. Louis, MO / St. Louis University High) cleared a personal best 3.86 meters (12-08.00) to place 11th. Senior Tre Nowaczynski (Hales Corners, Wis. / West Allis Central) was 13th in the long jump at 6.14 meters (20-01.75). 

Closing out the night, the 4 x 400 meter relay placed fifth in 3:29.60 with Nowaczynski, Eddy Reyes Herrera (Sonoma, Calif. / Sonoma Valley), Eisner and Michael Gutierrez (Stillwater, MN / St. Croix Prep) running for the Scots.
