ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team began the outdoor track campaign at the Hamline Invitational on Saturday. The high powered meet spanned Division I, II and III with more than a thousand runners representing 10 schools.
Senior
Lachlan Hinwood (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) won the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:38.48, setting a personal best and cracking into Macalester's top 10 list in the event. First year
Henry Harper (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park) won the second heat of the 5000 meter run in 15:38.94 to place 26th overall. Also dipping under 16 minutes in the 5000 was fellow first year
Jake Lepak (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University HS) in a time of 15:59.2.
Junior
Sean Hayes (Buckley, Wash./White River) was second in the javelin with a mark of 54.30 meters (178-02). Also in the field, sophomore
David McNichols (New London, Wis./Shiocton) placed 12th in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.74 meters (153-03).

Nolan Ebner (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) ran a gutsy and personal record-setting 1:53.4 in the 800 meters to place third overall. His teammate senior
Tayeb Zaidi (San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding) was 17th with a 1:59.2. In the 1500-meter run, sophomore
Chris Boranian (Oakland, CA / Head Royce) crossed in 4:05.6 to earn 15th.
In the 100 meter dash, junior
Jack Schultenover (Glenwood, Minn./Minnewaska Secondary) placed fifth in a time of 11.21, while senior
Aidan Hennen (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) was 19th in 11.48.
Junior
Brian Eisner (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) earned a ninth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles crossing in 57.67 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, sophomore
Michael Gutierrez (Stillwater, MN / St. Croix Prep) was 21st and
Eddy Reyes Herrera (Sonoma, Calif./Sonoma Valley) placed 27th, running 52.29 and 52.87, respectively.
The Scots will be back running, jumping and throwing on April 13 at the Tom Cat Meet hosted at Hamline University.
