ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team was in action Friday night at the University of St. Thomas Showcase. The high caliber meet featured 1600 athletes and serves a preview for the MIAC championships which will be held at St. Thomas February 24 and 25.
The 4 x 400 meter relay team took fourth in a time of 3:37.04. The squad was composed of senior Tre Nowaczynski (Hales Corners, Wis./West Allis Central), first year Eddy Reyes Herrera (Sonoma, Calif. / Sonoma Valley), senior James Hargens (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and junior Brian Eisner (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal). Nowaczynski, Reyes Herrera and Eisner all competed in the open 400 placing 11th, 13th and 14th respectively.
Senior Lachlan Hinwood (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) took 12th in the mile. His 4:26.91 was a collegiate PR and just outside of the school top 10 list. Also competing in the event and notching personal bests were first year Henry Harper (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park) in 4:29.64, junior Mac Doherty (Madison, Wis./Madison East) in 4:35.21 and first year Jake Lepak (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University HS) in 4:41.70.
Also hitting a personal best was sophomore George Howe (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University High) in the pole vault, clearing 3.82 m (12-06.25).
The Macalester men will be back next Saturday, February 18 at the St. Olaf Tostrud Open.
