ST. PAUL- Minn.- Macalester College senior outside hitter
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) was named MIAC Volleyball Hitter of the Week for the week ending Oct. 15, the conference announced today. Baumann is the currently the second top hitter in the MIAC with 290 kills.
This past week Baumann tallied 51 kills in three games and led the Scots in defense with 57 digs, helping Macalester to wins over North Central University and Emmaus Bible College.
Baumann reached the mile marker of a 1,000 career kills for Macalester in the game against Saint Mary's University last Wednesday. Baumann tallied 10 kills against SMU to become the sixth Macalester volleyball player to hit 1,000 kills.
Against North Central Baumann had 21 kills, tying her season high, and 20 against Emmaus Bible College. She now sits fifth on the list of Macalester's top hitters with 1,042 kills and with games still to play. Baumman also now has 1,189 digs in her career, fourth all-time in Macalester history.
Macalester returns to MIAC play against Bethel on Oct. 18, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
