ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Mac Pack was in action today at the Roy Griak Invitational on the University of Minnesota's Leo Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights, Minn. The Macalester men finished sixth overall with a team score of 126. UW-Oshkosh was the top of 11 teams competing totaling 37 points.
The Scots were led by senior Lachlan Hinwood (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) who ran the slick 8 kilometer course in 28:01.9 to earn sixth place. The finish was a one-place improvement from his 2015 finish at Griak, a race he always performs well at.
Second across was sophomore Chris Boranian (Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School) in 29:17.2 for 25th. He was chased shortly after by sophomore Mac Doherty (Madison, Wis. / Madison East) in 28th, clocking 29:26.2
First years Jake Lepak (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Louis University High) and Henry Harper (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park) finished at 29:36.3 (32th) and 29:52.2 (35th), respectively.
Coach Matt Haugen highlighted the sensational performance of Hinwood, as well as the runs of Doherty, and seventh man Spencer Nelson (Liberty, Mo./Liberty). "We showed some training fatigue today, but a little September disappointment, only adds more hunger," Haugen said.
The Scots will be back racing Friday night, Sept 30 at the Blugold Invite in Colfax, Wis.
