ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team turned in several strong performances at the Meet of the UnSaintly, hosted by Hamline University at Klas Field on Saturday. No team scores were kept.
The Scots' sprinters excelled on Saturday, led by junior
Kara Komoto (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) and sophomore
Hannah Sonsalla (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton). Komoto placed second in the 100 meters with a season-best time of 12.52 seconds, while Sonsalla was fourth in 12.64. Sonsalla posted the third-fastest time in the MIAC in the 200 meters this season, taking second with a time of 25.66. Senior
Hannah Pollard-Garber (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg-Wootton) finished fifth in the 200 in 26.36, while junior
Anik Regan (Tucson, Ariz./University) placed seventh. In the 400 meter hurdles, first years
Gabby Ivy (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs) and
Amy Pelz (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
Junior
Kimber Meyer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) led the distance runners with a third-place finish in the 1500 meters in 4:51.56. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Lindaman (Winona, Minn./Winona) took seventh in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
In the field events, sophomore
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau) was third in the javelin with an effort of 34.27 meters (112-5), while senior
Katherine Meier (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) was seventh. Senior
Risa Luther (Portland, Ore./Franklin) also placed sixth in the discus with a toss of 34.51 meters (113-3).
Macalester will compete at the MIAC Championships on May 13-14 at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn.
