COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team competed on Day 1 of the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Saint John's. The Scots had multiple qualifiers for Saturday's finals.
Sophomore sprinter
Hannah Sonsalla (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) turned in qualifying performances in the 200 and 400 meters, including a season-best time of 25.49 seconds in the 200. Sonsalla's time was the fastest in the preliminary heats of the 200. Also in the sprints, junior
Kara Komoto (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) had the fourth-fastest time in the 100 meters, qualifying in 12.62. Komoto, Sonsalla, junior
Anik Regan (Tucson, Ariz./University) and first year
Alia Benedict (Manchester, Mich./Manchester) qualified for Saturday's finals in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.60.
Junior
Brooke Hunter (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) advanced to the finals in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.51 seconds.
In the field events, senior
Risa Luther (Portland, Ore./Franklin) advanced to the finals of the hammer throw and finished ninth with a toss of 40.03 meters (131-4).
The MIAC Outdoor Championships conclude Saturday, May 14 at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn.
