COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team scored 47 points on the final day of the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships to finish ninth on Saturday at Saint John's. Three Scots earned All-MIAC honors with top-three finishes, including a school-record performance by senior
Sarah Jonathan (Guilford, Conn./Guilford).
Jonathan lowered her own mark in the 3000 meter steeplechase by more than 13 seconds to finish in second place. Her time of 10:49.66 currently ranks 13th nationally. The race marks the fourth time this spring that Jonathan has set a new school record in the steeplechase, as well as her first loss of the season in the event. Carleton's Ruth Steinke won the race in 10:47.02.
In the sprints, junior
Kara Komoto (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) placed second in the 100 meters with her best race of the season, finishing in 12.49 seconds. The performance also ranks fifth on Macalester's all-time list in the 100. Sophomore sprinter
Hannah Sonsalla (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) took third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.76, and also finished fourth in 400 meters in 58.99. Komoto and Sonsalla combined with junior
Anik Regan (Tucson, Ariz./University) and first year
Alia Benedict (Manchester, Mich./Manchester) to finish third in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.20.

Erin Porter (Aztec, N.M./Aztec) led the Scots to a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay in 4:06.55.
Other standout performances were turned in by junior
Kimber Meyer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North), who was fifth in the 5000 meters, sophomore
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau), who was sixth in the javelin, and junior
Brooke Hunter (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater), who was seventh in the 100 meter hurdles.
Macalester will compete in the UW-Lacrosse NCAA Qualifier on Thursday, May 19 in Lacrosse, Wis.
