COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Macalester College senior
Logan Hovie (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) won his fourth MIAC outdoor high jump title on Saturday at the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Saint John's. The Scots tallied 21 team points to finish 11th in the team standings.
Hovie cleared 2.01 meters (6-7) to win by two inches and claim the career sweep in the event. He becomes the first Scot to win four MIAC titles in the same event since
Kajerero Ssebbaale won the triple jump from 1999 to 2002. A three-time All-American, Hovie also won the high jump at the MIAC Indoor Championships the past two years.
On the track, the Scots' 4x100 meter relay team of senior
Peace Madimutsa (Harare, Zimbabwe/United World College), junior
Aidan Hennen (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) and sophomores
Brian Eisner (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) and
Jack Schultenover (Glenwood, Minn./Minnewaska Secondary) placed eighth. First year
Chris Boranian (Oakland, Calif./Head Royce) was 10th in the 1500 meters. Also, sophomore
Miles Keys McKay (Santa Cruz, Calif./Santa Cruz) placed ninth in the triple jump.
Macalester will compete in the UW-Lacrosse NCAA Qualifier on Thursday, May 19 in Lacrosse, Wis.
