ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team hosted the Hamster Invitational, finishing third behind Saint Benedict and Hamline. The Scots had two first-place finishes on the track en route to 28 points.
Sophomore sprinter
Hannah Sonsalla (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) won the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.29. Also taking first was the Scots' 4x200 meter relay consisting of Sonsalla, seniors
Erin Porter (Aztec, N.M./Aztec) and
Hannah Pollard-Garber (Rockville, Md./Thomas Sprigg-Wootton), and first year
Phoebe Aguiar (Prairie Village, Kan./Shawnee Mission East), winning in a time of 1:49.51.
Other standout performances include sophomore
Lorna Sherwood Caballero (New York, N.Y./LaGuardia HS of Arts), who placed second in the mile, and senior
Sarah Jonathan (Guilford, Conn./Guilford), who was second in the 3000 meters. Third-place finishes were turned in by Aguiar in the 600 meters, junior
Anik Regan (Tucson, Ariz./University) in the 60 meters, sophomore
Kathrene Garcia (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) in the 800 meters and senior
Risa Luther (Portland, Ore./Franklin) in the weight throw.
Next up for the Scots is the Saint Benedict Triangular on Saturday, Feb. 13 in St. Joseph, Minn.
