ST. PAUL, Minn. – Amidst a drizzle at Como Park, the Macalester women's cross country team scored 150 points taking fifth place out of 12 teams at the MIAC Championships. First across the line, and this year's conference champion, was senior Taybri Irving of Augsburg in a time of 22:32.5. The St. Thomas women won the meet with a score of 50 points, followed by Carleton, St. Olaf, and St. Benedict.
Taking a strong second place and first across for the Scots was
Kimber Meyer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) with a time of 22:41.5. The defending MIAC champion, Meyer has never finished out of the top four, taking fourth in 2013, second in 2014 and winning in 2015.
Next was senior
Sarah Jo Devore (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines). Her time of 24:18.3 edged her into 32nd place. Close behind came senior
Eliza Ramsey (Olympia, Wash./Capital) for 38th place in 24:26.8.
Rounding out the scoring pack for Macalester were senior
Megan Davitt (Slingerlands, N.Y. / Bethlehem Central) and junior
Lorna Sherwood Caballero (New York, NY / LaGuardia H.S. of Arts). Davitt crossed the line in 24:39.5 for 47th place and Sherwood Caballero finished in 24:41.8 for 51st place.
Close behind,
Lea Davidson and
Gretchen Greene, the displacers for the Scots, took 56th and 57th places, respectively.
The Scots will return on November 12 to compete at the NCAA Central Region Meet hosted by Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. The Scots are currently ranked seventh in the region and hope to improve upon that.
