ETTICK, Wis. – On a breezy day in Ettick, Wis. the Macalester women's cross country team took sixth in a field of 22 at the Tori Neubauer Invitational, hosted by UW-La Crosse. The strong showing was highlighted by a top five finish from senior Kimber Meyer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North).

The meet was both one of the biggest of the season and a final chance for the Scots to a chance to face off against some of the top teams in the region. The team champions were UW-La Crosse with 36 points and Iowa Central's Leanne Pompeani was the individual winner. She covered the six-kilometer course in a time of 21:16.4.

Meyer led the Scots with a fourth place overall finish in a time of 22:18.3. Second across, and also placing in the top 30, was senior Eliza Ramsey (Olympia, Wash./Capital). Her time of 23:36.1 was good enough for 29th place.

Strong pack running from Sarah Jo DeVore (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) and Lorna Sherwood Caballero (New York, N.Y./LaGuardia H.S. of Arts) put them in 41st and 42nd respectively. Devore, a senior, clocked in at 23:51.3 while junior Sherwood Caballero finished in 23:51.9.

Fifth on the team and placing 59th overall was junior Lea Davidson (Walla Walla, Wash./Walla Walla). She rounded out scoring for the Scots when she crossed in a time of 24:11.4.
 
"It was tremendous," said coach Betsy Emerson. "I'm very pleased with the team effort and excited that we were the second team from the MIAC and third in the Central Region." Emerson was especially proud to note that 25 out of 34 team members notched a season PR.
 
The Scots have a week off before they return for what will be the final race for much of the squad. On October 29, Macalester will host the MIAC Championships at Como Park in St. Paul.
