ETTRICK, Wis. – The Macalester College men's cross country team raced at the Jim Drews Invitational this morning, placing 16th as a team. UW-La Crosse hosted the 8-kilometer race in Ettrick, Wis.
Iowa Central was the team winner behind individual champion Omer Almog who clocked in with a toasty 25:00. The Tritons impressed with a team score of just 23 points.
Senior
Lachlan Hinwood (Colfax, Wis./Colfax) finished 40th overall. His 26:58 led all scoring for what was otherwise a young squad.
Second for the Scots was sophomore
Chris Boranian (Oakland, Calif./Head-Royce School) in 27:49 placing 103rd. Third was sophomore
Mac Doherty (Madison, Wis./Madison East) who crossed in 141st at 28:16.
Scoring was rounded out by the Scots by a pair of freshmen.
Henry Harper (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park) finished in 28:20 for 147th and
Jake Lepak (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University High) was 188th clocking in at 28:51.
"I was proud of how our young guys showed up and closed the gap together," said coach
Matt Haugen. "We're all really looking forward to MIAC. That's the race we've been gearing up for."
The team will finish off their season at the MIAC Championships hosted by Macalester on October 29 at Como Park in St. Paul, MN.
