ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team placed first in the team standings to open the 2016 indoor season at the Alumni Meet Saturday afternoon in the Leonard Center Field House. The Scots scored 62 points, while Augsburg and St. Kate's each scored 34 points.
Sophomore
Hannah Sonsalla (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) led the Scots on the track, winning the 200 meters with a time of 26.98 seconds, nearly two seconds faster than the second-place competitor. She also took second in the 60 meter dash in 8.29. First year
Phoebe Aguiar (Prairie Village, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) won the 400 meters in 1:04.13, then joined Sonsalla, senior
Erin Porter (Aztec, N.M./Aztec) and junior
Anik Regan (Tucson, Ariz./University) on the winning 4x200 meter relay team. Aguiar, Porter, sophomore
Carmen Garson-Shumway (Hilo, Hawaii/Hilo) and first year
Gabby Ivy (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs) also won the 4x400 relay in 4:26.25.
Also on the track, senior
Sarah Jonathan (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) was second in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:03.40.
In the field events, junior
Audrey Seligman (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) captured the pole vault with a mark of 2.60 meters. First year
Halla Dontje Lindell (St. Peter, Minn./St. Peter) was first in the triple jump (9.89), while senior
Risa Luther (Portland, Ore./Franklin) turned in a personal-best performance of 12.49 in the weight throw.
The Scots will compete at the UW-River Falls Meet on Saturday, Jan. 30.
