NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's cross country team competed against 20 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational today, and despite two top runners out for the day, finished in 5th place overall.

Kimber Meyer (Naperville, Ill./North) led the way for Macalester with a second place overall finish. Meyer ran the 6k course in 22:09.6, crossing the line just behind first place finisher and MIAC rival Ruth Steinke (22:03.8).
Division II, Minnesota Duluth was the overall meet winner followed by Carleton College and St. Olaf College.
First year runner,
Elena Smith (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) was the second finisher for the Scots and 36th overall (24:04.7) followed by junior
Eliza Ramsey (Olympia, Wash./Capital) who ran a personal record, 24:20.4 for a 42nd overall finish.
Lorna Sherwood Caballero (New York, NY/LaGuardia) and
Gretchen Greene (Madison, Wis./Memorial) rounded out the top five for Macalester, finishing in 24:45.2 and 24:49.4 for 55th and 59th places respectively.
The Scots will return to action on Sept. 26 as they compete in the University of Minnesota Griak Invitational.
