ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team wrapped up action at the 2015 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Macalester Stadium Saturday evening. The Scots finished the meet with 32 team points for a 10th place finish, scoring points in the 200, 400, 800, the steeplechase and the 4x400 relay today (new school record).

The University of St. Thomas was named the women's MIAC Outdoor champions at the meet. The Tommies finished with 148 team points and captured their 11th-straight conference title, which is also the 31st in program history in the 33 years of the event.
The Scots entered Saturday action with four team points, which were earned by
Simone Carpenter in the javelin and the Macalester 4x800-meter relay team in Friday action.
Sarah Jo DeVore competed in the first running event of the day on Saturday and took sixth place with a time of 11:35.14 to score three team points.
The women's 4x100-meter relay made up of
Emily Diener,
Erin Ortiz,
Anik Regan and
Hannah Sonsalla posted a third place finish. The relay timed in at 49.23 to score six points for the Scots.
Senior
Emily Diener ran to a sixth place finish in the 400-meter dash. Diener posted a time of 58.70 to score three points for Macalester.
Hannah Sonsalla ran a 26.25, 200-meter dash for a fourth place finish to score five points for the Scots.
Irene Gibson competed in the 800-meter run today. Gibson finished in fourth place with a finals time of 2:14.24 – cutting two seconds off of her preliminary time and scoring five points in the event.
The Scots finished the meet on a high note, running to a fourth place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The relay was made up of
Emily Diener,
Ingrid Greene,
Hannah Sonsalla and
Irene Gibson. The team finished in a Macalester record-setting time of 3:54.66. The record was broken by nearly two seconds, having been previously set last season (3:56.69).
