Macalester Hires Dignazio as Recruiting Coordinator

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Macalester director of athletics Kim Chandler has announced the hiring of Bob Dignazio as the department's recruiting coordinator.

9769"I'd like to thank Kim and the entire coaching staff at Macalester College for this opportunity," Dignazio said. "Macalester is a top liberal arts college with national academic and athletic reputations. I'm looking forward to getting down to work and contributing to the team at Mac."

Dignazio joins the Scots' staff after four seasons as the men's lacrosse coach at Beloit College (Wis.), where he guided the lacrosse program through its first three years and, this past year, served as the athletics-admissions liaison for the Buccaneers' athletic programs.

As the head coach at Beloit, and two years as an assistant at his alma mater, Kenyon College (Ohio), he has recruited extensively throughout the United States for academically selective institutions, similar to Macalester. His recruiting classes at Beloit have included student-athletes from 21 different states.

As a coach, Dignazio led the Bucs to a 6-6 record in the program's inaugural season (2013), a 9-6 record in the team's second year (2014), and, most recently, a berth in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference semifinals in 2015.

Prior to his time at Beloit, Dignazio had served as the defensive and recruiting coordinator at Kenyon during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He also spent one season as the defensive coordinator at Randolph-Macon College (Va.) following his graduation from Kenyon in 2008.

As a player at Kenyon, he was a two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference defenseman and was a member of two teams which earned spots in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Dignazio started every game for three seasons and helped lead the team to a 33-10 record during that span. He earned Kenyon's Bill Heiser Award at the end of his senior season for hard work, dedication and sportsmanship and served as a team captain that season.

A native of Wallingford, Pa., Dignazio graduated from Kenyon College in 2008 with his Bachelor of Arts in history. He earned his Master of Arts in sport humanities from Ohio State University in 2013. Dignazio is also a member of the Pi Lambda Theta national education honor association.
