ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team competed in Hamline University's Meet of the Unsaintly Saturday. Several top performances were achieved in the Scots final meet before the MIAC Championships, which will be held at Macalester on May 8 and 9.
Meet Highlights:
Irene Gibson won the 400-meter dash with a MIAC best time of 57.27. This personal best ranks her second on Macalester's all-time list.
First year
Hannah Sonsalla posted an impressive performance in the 200-meter dash. Sonsalla finished in third place with a time of 25.85. She also posted a sixth place finish in the 100-meter dash.
In the 800-meter run,
Carmen Garson-Shumway grabbed fifth place, running 2:19.28.
Lorna Sherwood Caballero ran a season best, 4:56.34 for a fifth place finish in the 1500-meter run.
The Macalester trio of
Lea Davidson,
Rosie Cobb and
Laura Gould crossed the line in fourth, fifth and sixth places, respectively in the 5000-meter run today. Davidson finished in 20:12.56, Cobb came in at 20:45.80 and Gould completed the race in 20:29.59.
The Scots' 4x100 relay team made up of
Emily Diener,
Erin Ortiz,
Anik Regan and
Hannah Sonsalla finished in second with a time of 48.97. With this time, the group re-broke the school record that they had just set at Wednesday's meet. They finished second behind division II, Minnesota-Duluth.
The 4x400 relay grabbed a first place finish, posting a time of 3:58.18 (the second fastest time at Macalester). The relay featured

Ingrid Greene,
Hannah Sonsalla and
Irene Gibson.
In field event action,
Meghan Klapper finished in third place in the high jump. Klapper jumped 1.56-meters.
Simone Carpenter threw to a second place performance in the javelin throw. Carpenter threw a season-best, 32.40-meters.
