ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team competed at the Tommie Twilight Meet at the University of St. Thomas O'Shaughnessy Stadium Wednesday evening. The Scots' 4x100-meter relay team grabbed a first place finish and new Macalester outdoor record among other prominent performances on the night.

Emily Diener, Erin Ortiz, Anik Regan and Hannah Sonsalla, which won the event by breaking a 17-year old school record in the process (49.22 in 1998) with a time of 49.16, the top MIAC outdoor time this season.
Another highlight from the night includes a sixth and eighth place finish by
Hannah Sonsalla and
Erin Ortiz, respectively, in the 100-meter dash. Sonsalla timed in at 12.75 and Ortiz followed at 12.86 (the duo ran preliminary times of 12.64 and 12.70).
Ortiz posted another strong performance in the 200-meter dash where she finished in fifth place with a time of 26.09.
Irene Gibson notched a sixth place finish in the 800-meter run, finishing in a season best 2:15.59. Gibson holds the sixth best time in the MIAC this season.
In field event action,
Meghan Klapper posted a seventh place finish in the high jump, jumping 1.5-meters.
Zexin Nai threw a season-best 10.35-meters to place fourth in the shot put.
Sophomores
Brooke Hunter and
Sarah Silbert, will travel to Northfield, Minn to compete in the MIAC Heptathlon Championships on Friday. On May 1-2 the Scots will compete at the Hamline Meet of the Unsaintly, their final tuneup before the MIAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Macalester on May 8-9.
