ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team hosted the 2015 Janis Rider Invitational on Saturday. The Scots welcomed 11 teams to Macalester Stadium and finished with 102.5 total team points on the day for a 4th place finish. First year sprinter
Hannah Sonsalla was the lone champion for the Scots, winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.47.

Meet Highlights: Senior sprinter
Erin Ortiz posted a fourth place finish in the 100-meter dash. Ortiz ran a 13.24.
Sonsalla who, as mentioned, won the 200-meter dash was followed by teammates
Erin Ortiz (27.42) and
Anik Regan (27.43) who finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Sonsalla also grabbed a top-three finish in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 59.81 for third place.
Irene Gibson took second place in the 800-meter run. Gibson posted a finals time of 2:16.22, ranking her in the top-five on the MIAC Honor Roll.
Distance runners
Becky Honnold and
Lea Davidson posted second and third place finished in the 5000-meter run. Honnold posted a time of 19:16.37 for second place and Davidson finished in 19:44.35 for third.
Brooke Hunter notched a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a finals time of 15.85. Hunter finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.75).
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Macalester finished with two runners in scoring positions.
Sarah Jo DeVore and
Elena Torry-Schrag finished in fifth and sixth place. DeVore came in at 11:55.40 and Torry-Schrag finished in 12:03.34.
In field event action, Macalester had a pair of throwers finish in scoring positions. Junior thrower,
Zexin Nai threw 10.22-meters in the shot put finals to post a third place finish in the event. Junior
Risa Luther threw 38.82-meters to secure a sixth place finish in the hammer throw.
The Macalester women's track and field team will return to action on Wednesday, April 29 when they compete at the Tommie Twilight Meet.
