On TapThe Macalester men's track and field team is looking to follow-up strong performances in at the Tom Cat Meet (4/16) and Carleton Relays (4/18) when they host their own meet on Thursday, April 23. The Macalester Bolstorff Twilight Meet will begin with field events at 5:00, with the running events starting at 5:30. The 2014 edition of the meet featured 17 teams, including many from MIAC competition.
Doug Bolstorff was a coach and teacher at Macalester for 41 very successful years, and remains one the most decorated and respected members of the Macalester Athletics community. A standout on the basketball court for the Golden Gophers, Bolstorff went on to play in the NBA before coaching basketball in parts of four decades at Macalester. His Macalester track and field and cross country teams were conference and national powerhouses and combined to win 20 MIAC championships. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his Men's Track and Field team that captured the MIAC Outdoor team title in 1965, it the midst of a run of 11 straight titles from 1958-1969. Bolstorff was inducted into the Macalester Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003.
