NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team traveled to Northfield, Minn. today to compete in the Carleton Relays. The Scots walked away with several strong performances in the meet including first place finishes by
Hannah Sonsalla and
Irene Gibson. Team scores were not provided.

Top Performances:
First year
Hannah Sonsalla started the meet off with a first place finish in the 200-meter dash. Sonsalla posted a time of 25.65, defeating second ahd third place runners from Minnesota Duluth and nearly matching the Macalester outdoor record in the event (25.35).
Irene Gibson grabbed the second first place finish of the day. Gibson won the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:18.11.
In the 5000-meter run, Macalester sophomore
Karlyn Russell posted a fifth place finish with a time of 19:24.55.
Lorna Sherwood Caballero followed up with a seventh place finish in 19:31.55.
Sarah Silbert competed in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in sixth place in 16.43.
Sarah Jo DeVore took second place in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:49.90.
The Macalester women's track and field team will return to action on Saturday, April 25 as they host the Janis Rider Invitation, slated for 10 a.m. at Macalester Stadium.
