ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College men's track and field team traveled just down the road to compete in the Tom Cat Meet hosted by the University of St. Thomas on Thursday afternoon. The Scots came away with some solid performances as they faced competition from the University of Minnesota, Northwestern (St. Paul), St. John's and St. Olaf.

Three sprinters posted top six performances on the day.
Â
Jack Schultenover, who tied the Macalester indoor record for the 60-meter dash this year, posted a sixth pace finish in the 100-meter dash at the Tom Cat Meet today. Schultenover finished in 11.47 seconds.

Tre Nowaczynski grabbed a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash, timing in at 22.94.

Jole Miller ran the 400-meter dash in 51.47, placing fifth overall.

Joe Giamberdino grabbed a fourth place finish in the 1500-meter run. Giamberdino posted a finals time of 4:00.34. Teammate
Lachlan Hinwood followed up in seventh place with a time of 4:03.66.

Tayeb Zaidi took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, with a finals time of 59.24.

In field event action, the Scots continued to shine.
Miles Keys McKay grabbed a third place finish in the triple jump, jumping 12.52-meters.

Christian Stewart also notched a third place finish with a 13.50m shot put throw. In the discus,
David McNichols threw 35.93m to secure fourth place and Stewart followed up with a 35.65m finals mark for fifth. Stewart also placed fifth in the hammer throw (38.25m).

The javelin duo of
Bolton Howes and
Konnor Fleming swept the top spots in the meet. Howes recorded a finals score of 53.03m (tying his Saturday performance) and Fleming followed up, throwing 48.13m.

Macalester outdoor track and field will return to action on Saturday when they compete in the Carleton Relays in Northfield, Minn.
