ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team competed at the Hamline Invite on Saturday where they faced 13 teams, seven of them being Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes. The Scots' sprinters led the way with the most top-ten performances on the day.
Teams competing included: Augsburg, Bethel, Carleton, Macalester, Hamline, St. Thomas, Northwestern St. Paul, Wisconsin- River Falls, Minnesota- Morris, St. Olaf, St. Kate's and division II competitors: Concordia, St. Paul, Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State.

Senior sprinter,
Erin Ortiz notched an eighth place finish in the 200-meter dash. Ortiz finished in 26.82. She also sprinted to a 12th place finish in the 100-meter dash, where she ran a 13.08.
Senior,
Irene Gibson, finished in seventh place in the 800-meter run. Gibson came in at 2:19.18.
Sophomore hurdler,
Brooke Hunter, sprinted to a sixth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. Hunter timed in at 15.82. First year teammate,
Hannah Sonsalla, followed suit in the 400-meter hurdles as she ran to a seventh place finish with a time of 1:09.28.
Sophomore
Elena Torry-Schrag and
Sarah Jo DeVore finished in seventh and eighth place respectively in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Torry-Schrag came in at 12:18.08 and DeVore just after at 12:18.68.
Macalester's 4x100 relay made up of
Emily Diener,
Erin Ortiz,
Anik Regan and
Hannah Sonsalla posted a fifth place finish in 50.81.
Diener and Sonsalla turned right around and paired up with Ingrid Green and
Irene Gibson so spring to a second place finish in the 4x400-meter relay (4:06.16).
The Macalester women's outdoor track and field team will return to action on Saturday, April 18 when they compete in the Carleton Relays in Northfield, Minn.
