ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team competed at the Hamline Invite on Saturday where they faced 12 teams, six of them being Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes. The Scots found success and several top-ten performances, primarily in field events at the meet.
Teams competing included: Augsburg, Bethel, Carleton, Macalester, Hamline, St. Thomas, Northwestern St. Paul, Wisconsin- River Falls, Minnesota- Morris, St. Olaf and division II competitors: Concordia, St. Paul, Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State.

In the 400-meter hurdles, first year sprinter,
Brian Eisner posted an eighth place finish. Eisner timed in at 1:00.71.
Senior
Joe Giamberdino grabbed a first place finish for the Scots. Giamberdino won the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:39.50—finishing four and a half seconds before the second-place finisher, Drew Johnson, from Minnesota Duluth.
Logan Hovie, after jumping to All-American status in the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, posted a second place finish in the high jump. Hovie cleared 1.98-meters (6-06.0).
Also in field event action, first year triple jumper
Miles Keys McKay jumped to a seventh place finish. Keys McKay posted a finals jump of 12.47m.
The Macalester duo of
Bolton Howes and
Konnor Fleming both excelled in the javelin throw. Howes won the event; throwing 51.30-meters and Fleming came in third with a finals mark of 50.8-meters. Macalester's
Sean Hayes posted a seventh place finish (44.67-meters).
The Macalester men's outdoor track and field team will return to action on Thursday, April 16 when they compete in the Tom Cat meet hosted at the University of St. Thomas.
