MOORHEAD, Minn. --Â Irene Gibson and
Hannah Sonsalla both turned in third-place efforts to lead Macalester to 20 points on the final day of the 2015 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, finishing eighth among the conference's 12 teams.
Gibson turned in a third-place finish in the 600-meter dash for five points. Running in a heat which produced the top five finishers, all of whom finished within 2.5 seconds of one another, Gibson turned in a time of 1:38.17 to garner all-conference honors.
Sonsalla, for the second consecutive day, picked up an all-conference award as she finished third in the 200, just .08 seconds out of first place in 26.29. She and Gibson, running the second and anchor legs, respectively, teamed with
Emily Diener and
Erin Ortiz to place fifth in the 4x400 relay in 4:08.37.
The 4x200 relay team won its heat and also finished fifth, turning in a time of 1:48.18.
Macalester now has a month off before opening its outdoor season, April 11, by competing in the Hamline Invitational.
