MOORHEAD, Minn. --Â Macalester scored 10 points on the final day of the 2015 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships to finish 10th in the team standings.
Joe Giamberdino led the Scots, Saturday, with his second fourth-place finish of the meet. After taking fourth, Friday, in the mile run, he duplicated the feat in the 3,000-meter run as he was one of six runners to beat the old Olson Forum record, finishing in a career-best eight minutes, 34.63 seconds, breaking the school record he set last weekend.
Mason Kriegel picked up three points for Macalester by finishing sixth in the pole vault with an effort of 4.26m (13-11 3/4).
The Scots final two points of the day came from the 4x200 relay team consisting of
Tre Nowaczynski,
Bolton Howes,
Jole Miller and
Jack Schultenover as they turned in a time of 1:33.29.
As things stand,
Logan Hovie, who claimed the conference title in the high jump, Friday, will be Macalester's lone representative at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, March 13-14, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
