MOORHEAD, Minn. --Â Brooke Hunter got three points for Macalester in the pentathlon on the first day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
In her best event, Hunter opened the five-event competition by finishing second in the 60-meter hurdles, losing out to pentathlon champion Dani Larson of St. Olaf by .009 seconds, officially turning in a time of 9.437, to fall two points out of first place. Teammate Sara Silbert was sixth in the hurdles in 10.13.
Silbert outjumped her teammate in the high jump, placing ninth with a jump of 1.37m (4-6) while Hunter was 11th, clearing the same height, while Larson won her second event by clearing 1.67m (5-5 3/4).
Hunter would go on to finish 10th in the shot put (7.63m [25-0 1/2]), 12th in the long jump (4.34m [14-3]) and 10th in the 800-meter run (2:38.53), tallying 2,657 total points.
Silbert finish the competition in 12th with 2,475 points, placing eighth in the shot put (8.23m [27-0]), fifth in the long jump (4.55m [14-11 1/4]) and 12th in the 800 (2:51.40).
Competition at the MIAC Championships continues Friday and concludes Saturday at Concordia's Olson Forum.
