Logan Hovie will compete in the high jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. He secured his first ticket to indoor nationals by posting a school-record jump of 2.07m (6-9 1/2) to win his first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference indoor championship.
Â
Hovie's winning jump gave him his first indoor conference crown, after twice being runner-up, following a pair of conference outdoor titles and earned him his fifth consecutive all-conference honor.
Â
This weekend's NCAA appearance will be the third of his career and first indoor appearance for Hovie. He enters the competition tied for 10th among the 15 qualifiers.
Â
One of just four male student-athletes to qualify from the MIAC, Hovie is also the only field event competitor from the conference entered in this weekend's championships.
Â
Saturday's men's high jump competition is scheduled to get underway at 2:30 p.m. EST at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C., and hosted by Roanoke College. Hovie is slated as the 14th competitor in the event, which will start at 1.94m (6-4 1/4) and will be a one-flight event.
