ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Macalester women's track and field team competed in the second annual Gene Glader Classic hosted by Bethel University at the Sports and Recreation Center Saturday, Feb. 7. The Scots found success against tough MIAC and regional opponents as they grabbed several top-three finishes.

First year sprinter,
Hannah Sonsalla, posted a third place finish in the 200-meter dash as she came in neck and neck with the top two finishers. Sonsalla crossed the line in 26.610, while the winner notched a 26.605.
In the 800-meter run, Macalester grabbed the top two spots with
Irene Gibson finishing in first place with a time of 2:24.05 and
Ingrid Greene placing second in 2:26.47.
Sarah Jo DeVore topped the distance performances with a third place finish in the 3000 meter run, coming in at 11:09.28. Teammates
Lorna Sherwood-Caballero and
Karlyn Russell followed, finishing in fourth and fifth.
Brooke Hunter secured a third place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Hunter posted a finals time of 9.63.
Macalester's relay teams performed well, with the 4x200 taking first place and the 4x400 coming in second.
In field events,
Simone Carpenter grabbed a third place finish in the triple jump, jumping 7.76m.
The Macalester women's indoor track and field team will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 14 as they travel to St. Joseph, Minn. to compete in the St. Ben's Triangular.
