ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team posted five first-place finishes to cruise to a team victory at the 2015 Kilt Classic held at Macalester's Leonard Center Fieldhouse.
Macalester finished with 127.50 team points; Hamline came in second with 113 and Bethel placed third scoring 103.
The Scots' sprinters couldn't be stopped, as victories were recorded in the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter dash and the 600-meter run.
First year,
Hannah Sonsalla ran a speedy 26.50 200-meter dash to notch a first-place finish over Hamline's Izzy Shafer. Macalester's
Erin Ortiz came in at 26.96 to place third.
In the 400-meter dash, the Scots' senior
Emily Diener ran a 1:00.34 to win the event.
Senior
Irene Gibson followed-up with a victory in the 600-meter run, crossing the line in 1:38.16.
Macalester's 4x400 relay team was part of the electrifying finish for the Scots. The team made up of
Emily Diener,
Ingrid Greene,
Hannah Sonsalla and
Irene Gibson sailed to a 4:10.72 victory, nearly seven seconds ahead of second place finisher, Gustavus.
Sophomore
Meghan Klapper won the high-jump with a season-best 1.56-meter jump.

Macalester will return to action on March 5-7 as they travel to Moorhead, Minn. to compete in the 2015 MIAC Indoor Championships.
