ST. PAUL, Minn. – The 2015 Kilt Classic concluded in an electrifying fashion for the Macalester Scots. Senior distance runner,
Joe Giamberdino stole the show, breaking the Macalester indoor record in the 3000-meter run and rallying the Scots 4x400 relay to snag a come-from-behind first place finish to end the night.
The Scots, who finished third overall in team scores with 78 points, had several breakthrough performances on the night. Hamline was the overall winner of the meet on the men's side, finishing with 169 points. Bethel came in second with 107.
First year sprinter,
Jack Schultenover, ran a season-best 7.14 60-meter dash in prelims to tie the Macalester Leonard Center record. Schultenover grabbed a third place finish in the finals session with a 7.16.
Joe Giamberdino set the new 3000-meter school record with a time of 8:38.86. Giamberdino recapped the night stating, "I'm so proud of how everyone performed. It was such a great way for us to rally together and get ready for the conference meet."

Trevor Maggart and
Lachlan Hinwood (who finished 4th) as they helped set his pace in the first mile. Joe stated, "I really want to thank the guys who rabbited for me to make this possible. The atmosphere was so electric and I just couldn't be more excited."
As the energy in the building accelerated, so did the Scots. In the final event of the evening, the men's 4x400 relay comprised of
Jole Miller,
Nolan Ebner,
Bolton Howes and
Tre Nowaczynski grabbed an upset-victory over Hamline. Nowacynski passed Hamline's Jacob Pederson down the final stretch as the Scots finished in 3:31.16.

Margaret Gehring recapped the night stating, "It was so electric in here and it just completely fed into both our men's and women's 4x400 teams winning. Our last three events were a culmination of how unbelievable the entire night was. I couldn't be more proud."
Other meet highlights include a second place finish by
Tayeb Zaidi in the 600-meter run. Zaidi finished in 1:25.23.
Nolan Ebner won the 800-meter run in 1:58.58.
Logan Hovie won the high jump for the Scots, clearing 2.01m. Tre Nowacyzynski finished in third place in the long jump, with a 6.24m performance.

Macalester will return to action on March 5-7 as they travel to Moorhead, Minn. to compete in the 2015 MIAC Indoor Championships.
