MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --Â Hannah Sonsalla lowered her season-best times in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes to lead Macalester's contingent at the University of Minnesota's Parents' Day Open.
Sonsalla was the top collegiate runner, finishing second overall, in the 200-meter dash in a season-best time of 26.61 seconds. She then turned in a fifth-place performance in the 400-meter dash, turning in a season-best time of 1:00.86.
Emily Diener, who was 10th in the 200, turned in the third best time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this season as she finished fourth in the 400 in 1:00.32.
Irene Gibson moved into ninth on the MIAC's performance list in the 800 as she placed fourth, turning in a time of 2:20.48 to win her heat in the event.
In the high jump,
Meghan Klapper cleared 1.54m (5-0 1/2) to finish fourth, tying for eighth on the MIAC's performance list.
Sarah Silbert's effort of 4.69m (15-4 3/4), a season-best, was good for second place in the unseeded section of the long jump.
Macalester has one final meet on its schedule before the MIAC Championships. The Scots will host the Kilt Classic, Friday, at the Leonard Center Fieldhouse. Field events begin at 4:30 p.m. while running events will get underway at 5:30 p.m.
