ST. PETER, MINN. -- Macalester entered haltime all tied up with Gustavus Adolphus (33-33) in Wednesday night MIAC play. The Gusties started the second half off with a 16-0 run and held Macalester scoreless for over nine straight minutes to cruise to a 69-49 victory.

In the first half the Scots went 5-for-7 from three-point range, led by Lauren Clamage who went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Macalester closed down a six point gap on two occasions and led the Gusties 29-25 with 4:33 left in the half. Gustavus ended the half on an 8-4 run and sent the game into the break tied at 33-33.

The Gusties intensity picked up in the second half, aided by their large surplus in rebounds over the Scots. Hannah Howard pulled down 19 rebounds for the Gusties as they won the battle of the boards, 57-28. Macalester was held scoreless from the start of the second half until the 11:05 mark when freshman Leah Gray connected on a layup in the paint. The Scots second half scoring effort came too late, as Gustavus had already secured a 20-point lead.

Macalester falls to 3-21 overall, 0-17 in conference action. With the win, Gustavus improves to 17-7 overall and 11-6 in the MIAC to hold a third place spot.

Clamage led the Scots offensively, scoring 13 points on the night on four of six shooting from the field. Annie Drabot added 11 points and grabbed five steals.

The Scots will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 21 as they travel to Winona, Minn. to take on St. Mary's University at 1 p.m. in their final game of the 2014-15 season.
