ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A late decision to enter Macalester high jumper Logan Hovie in the St. Thomas Showcase paid dividends as the Scot junior won the high jump with an effort of 1.98m (6-6).

Four competitors cleared the winning height but none advanced further and Hovie was declared the winner based on fewest attempts as he was the only competitor to enter the competition at 1.98m, which he cleared with his first jump.

The remainder of the Macalester squad will take part in Saturday's St. John's Alumni Triangular in Collegeville, Minn.
