ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester men's indoor track and field team hosted a season-opener triangular today in the Leonard Center's field house. The Scots finished second in team rankings among Augsburg, Macalester alumni and Virginia Wesleyan.
Head Coach
Margaret Gehring commented on the meet stating, "For our first meet, I am really pleased. We were not at full strength, but I am very optimistic about our future. We had nine alumni compete and many more come to cheer us on! It was great to have that kind of support surrounding the program."
Final men's team rankings through 13 events were as follows:
1) Augsburg 69
2) Macalester 34
3) Macalester Alumni 18
4) Virginia Wesleyan 2

The Scots grabbed three first-place finishes at the meet.
Freshman
Nolan Ebner recorded a 2:01.76 time in the 800-meter run to finish in first place, three second ahead of Augsburg's second place finisher.
Senior
Joe Giamberdino picked up where he left off having led the Macalester men's cross-country team, coming in first in the one-mile with a time of 4:29.06.
Lachlan Hinwood placed second, finishing in 4:41.13.
Logan Hovie, the lone participant in the high jump, recorded a 1.99-meter jump (6.5 feet).
The Macalester men's indoor track and field team will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 31 as they travel to River Falls, Wis. to compete in the Falcon Winter Classic.
