Macalester vs. Concordia box score
The Scots won three third-set tiebreakers in singles play and went on to shut out Concordia-Moorhead 9-0 Sunday in St. Paul and stay in the chase for the final berth in next weekend's MIAC playoffs. Macalester needs to beat St. Olaf at home Tuesday (April 30) at 4:45 p.m. to make the conference post-season.
Macalester advances to 8-8 overall and 3-5 in the conference. The Cobbers drop to 4-13 overall, 1-8 in the MIAC.
Claiming third set tiebreaker victories for the Scots were
Stephen Tyndel (Sr., Toronto, Ont. / City Academy) at No. 2 singles,
Max Soghikian (Jr., Piedmont, Calif.) at No. 4 and
Kai Peterson (Sr., St. Paul, Minn. / Central) at No. 5. Picking up straight set decisions were
Brian Utz (Fy., Rochester, Minn. / Lourdes) at No. 1,
Max Edwards (Sr., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) at No. 3 and
Sam Naden (So., Middleton, Wis.) at No. 6.
Utz and Edwards won at first doubles, Tyndel and Soghikian won at second doubles, and Peterson and
Wilson Merrell (Fy., Poughkipsie, N.Y. / Arlington) won at third doubles.
