Macalester College held its annual
Academic Prizes and Awards Ceremony Friday (May 11) at Alumni Gymnasium and several student-athletes were among those honored. This annual event, held the day before graduation, honors Macalester's top senior scholars in the various academic departments, as well as some of the top junior and sophomore students.
Election to
Phi Beta Kappa recognizes outstanding scholarship in the liberal arts and sciences and five Macalester athletes were presented with membership:
Jeremy Carp (men's soccer),
Ryan Marshall (men's soccer),
Garrett Salzman (baseball),
Mike Snavely (football) and
Chloe Souza (women's cross country).
One recent graduate received a
National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Fellowship: former women's tennis player
Amanda Wenzel '10.
