Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational complete results
The Scots practiced and played at Jekyll Island, Georgia, over Spring Break. The week culminated with the three-day, 30-team Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. The top-five ranked NCAA Division III teams – and eight of the top 10 - participated in this top-tier tournament. Thirteen top-20 teams were in this event, which was held at Pine Lakes Golf Course.
Methodist (N.C.) beat Oglethorpe (Ga.) for the team trophy while Emory (Ga.) placed third. This annual event is considered the biggest and strongest Division III event in the nation.
Dan Shi (Fy., Loveland, Ohio / Seven Hills) and
Erik Alfvin (Fy., Shorewood, Wis.) led the way for Macalester. Shi finished with a 54-hole total of 249 on rounds of 79-87-83. Alfvin was right behind with a 251 after carding rounds of 82-84-85.
Andrew Gage (Fy., Piedmont, Calif.) shot a 260 and
Tyler Hanck (Jr., Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) finished with a 267.
