Complete Bethel Open results
The Scots were in a nine-team meet Saturday at the Bethel Open in Arden Hills and the season's second indoor meet was a success for Macalester.
The meet involved teams from Macalester, Augsburg, Northwestern, Concordia (St. Paul), St. Catherine, Hamline, St. Olaf, Valley City State, and some athletes from the University of Minnesota.
Earning second-place finishes for the Scots were
Ellen Brady (Fy., St. Paul, Minn. / Minneapolis De La Salle) in the 600-meter dash (1:47.79),
Caitlin Toner (Fy., New Providence, N.J.) in the 1000-meter run (3:16.29) and
Kate Rochat (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Cleveland) in the triple jump (9.79m).
In the 1-mile run,
Anna Schmitz (So., St. Paul, Minn. / Central) finished in third place (5:33.34) and teammate
Jenna Saunders (Fy., Lakeville, Minn. / North) was right behind in fourth (5:36.40). Saunders also placed fourth in the 800 meters (2:31.83).
Irene Gibson (Fy., Carmel, Ind.) placed third in the 400 dash (1:00.36) and
Marta LeFevre-Levy (So., Wayland, Mass.) was sixth (1:04.18).
Judy Syrkin-Nikolau (Fy., Ames, Ia.) took third in the 60-meter high hurdles (10.25).
Mac had two high finishers in the 29-runner field in the 200-meter dash.
Ana Armitage(So., Rickton, Ill. / Hononegah Community) placed 4th (26.71) and
Alexa Simpson (Jr., St. Elizabeth, Jamaica / Hampton School) was seventh (27.26).
Becky Kane (So., Miladore, Wis. / Auburndale) placed seventh in the 3000-meter run (11:37.64).
The Scots compete again next Saturday (Feb. 11) at the St. Cloud State University Van Nelson Open.
