Macalester vs. Bethel box score
Playing on their home field for the first time since Oct. 1, the Scots picked up a first half goal from
Bonnie Gale (Fy., Anchorage, Ak. / South Anchorage) and went on to beat Bethel 1-0 for a key MIAC win at Macalester Stadium. Following five straight road matches and three straight one-goal conference defeats, Macalester keeps its MIAC post-season hopes alive at 5-3-1 (9-6-1 overall).
The Scots have clinched their 23rd consecutive winning season and need one more win to reach double figures in the victory column for the 22nd time in 23 years.
Goalkeeper
Rosie Glenn-Finer (Jr., San Francisco, Calif. / Lick Wilmerding) stopped both Bethel shots on goal to post her sixth shutout in nine MIAC starts.
Gale's second score of the season came in the 20th minute off a cross from the right side of the field from
Izzi Speer (So., Madison, Wis. / West). For Speer, it was her team-leading seventh assist on the year.
Macalester is now 18-0-1 against Bethel. The Royals, who have been playing at a top level recently, are 8-5-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the MIAC.
Both teams launched 13 shots and the Scots had an 8-1 lead in corner kicks.
The Scots return to the field next Wednesday (Oct. 26) at home against St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
