Complete St. John's Invitational results

Ollie St. John (Jr., Washington, D.C. / Edmund Burke School) placed 33rd out of 150 runners to lead the way for Macalester at the St. John's Invitational in Collegeville. The Scots finished sixth out of 10 teams in this meet won by the host Johnnies. The next three teams were from the Division II ranks.

St. John completed the 8-kilometer course on the SCU campus in 28:29. Teammate Pete Steele (Jr., Winchester, Mass.) was right behind St. John with a 38th-place finish (28:39). Jon Bassen (Sr., Shorewood, Wis.) finished 47th (28:47) and Eric Biggers (Fy., Verona, Wis. / Verona Area) was 52nd (29:04) as the Scots ran as a pack at the top end of the lineup.

The Johnnies posted a 31 score to best Minnesota State-Mankato (52) for the team title. St. Cloud State edged Minnesota State-Moorhead for third place.

Macalester races next Saturday (Sept. 18) at the St. Olaf Invitational.
